Part 1
Verse 1, Part A
1: Lead up a double.
2: Fall back a double.
Verse 1, Part B
1-2: That again.
Chorus 1, Part A
1: Couples 1 and 2 double together (all four squashing up together) and take hands around; couples 3 and 4 do the same.
2: Each group does a double to circle halfway around, reversing the couples' positions in the line.
3: The couples now on the ends (2 and 3) fall back a double from their partner while the same genders of the middle two couples fall back a double from each other (into the space left by the retreating top and bottom couples)
4: Change places with the person you backed away from and fall into the original line in different places, ending like this:  couple 2 at the top, proper; couple 4 next, improper; then couple 1, improper; and finally, couple 3, proper.
Chorus 1, Part B
1: Top couples (2 & 4) double together (all four squashing up together) and take hands around; bottom couples (1 & 3) do the same.
2: Each group does a double to circle halfway around, reversing the couples' positions in the line.
3: The couples now on the ends (4 & 1) double away from each other as they leave their group of four, while the same genders of the middle couples, each on the opposite side double "away" from each other as they leave their respective groups, but really orient towards each other.
4: The partners in the end couples switch places, while the same genders in the middle switch places with each other, fully inverting  the line as follows:  4, 3, 2, 1, all improper.
Chorus 1, Part C
1: Top couples (4 & 3) double together (all four squashing up together) and take hands around; bottom couples (2 & 1) do the same.
2: Each group does a double to circle halfway around, reversing the couples' positions in the line.
3: The couples now on the ends (3 & 2) double away from each other as they leave their group of four, while the same genders of the middle couples, each on the opposite side double "away" from each other as they leave their respective groups, but really orient towards each other.
4: The partners in the end couples switch places, while the same genders in the middle switch places with each other, leaving the line as follows:  3 improper, 1 and 4, proper, and 2 improper.
Chorus 1, Part D
1: Top couples (3 & 1) double together (all four squashing up together) and take hands around; bottom couples (4 & 2) do the same.
2: Each group does a double to circle halfway around, reversing the couples' positions in the line.
3: The couples now on the ends (1 & 4) double away from each other as they leave their group of four, while the same genders of the middle couples, each on the opposite side double "away" from each other as they leave their respective groups, but really orient towards each other.
4: The partners in the end couples switch places, while the same genders in the middle switch places with each other, which returns the entire line to its original configuration!
Part 2
Verse 2, Part A
1: In upper and lower sets (1 & 2, 3 & 4), the men change places back to back as the women do the same.
2: Everyone change places with your partner [front to front, 'cause you're friendly?]
Verse 2, Part B
1: In the same sets, the men change places again, back to back, the women doing it as well.
2: Everyone change places with your partner to put the line back as it should be.
Chorus 2, Part A
1: Top and bottom couples cast off and half circle, couple 2 following couple 1 and 3 following 4, ending up with 1 and 4 in the middle, 2 at the top, and 3 at the bottom.
2-3: Continue moving in the direction you were casting, couples 4 and 3 going between 1 and 2 as required, adjusting speed, etc, so as to end up as follows: 4, 2, 3, 1 (as specified - 1 behind 3, 2 behind 4)
4: Upper (4 & 2) and lower (3 & 1) couples turn to face each other.
Chorus 2, Part B
1-2: Upper and lower groups set to each other, and instead of turning, couples 1 and 2 will back couples 3 and 4 up a double.
3: Everyone fall back (or forward as required) a double and resettle the line.
4: Everyone change places with your partner.
Chorus 2, Part C
1: Top and botton couples cast off and half circle, couple 2 following couple 4 and 3 following 1, ending up with 1 and 4 in the middle, 2 at the top, and 3 at the bottom.
2-3: Continue moving in the direction you were casting, couples 1 and 3 going between 4 and 2 as required, adjusting speed, etc, so as to end up back in the proper order.
4: Upper (1 & 2) and lower (3 & 4) couples turn to face each other.
Chorus 2, Part D
1-2: Upper and lower groups set to each other, and instead of turning, couples 1 and 3 will back couples 2 and 4 up a double.
3: Everyone fall back (or forward as required) a double and resettle the line.
4: Everyone change places with your partner, remaining facing out, with your back to your partner (for the next verse).
Part 3
Verse 3, Part A
1: Everyone do a double towards their respective wall.
2: Fall back a double.
Verse 3, Part B
1: Everyone cast off over your right shoulder and switch places with your partner (passing right shoulders)
2: Everyone change places (back) with your partner [by left hand]
Chorus 3, Part A
1: Couples 1 and 4 meet a double while couple 2 falls up into the top position, and couple 3 falls down into the bottom position.
2: Fall back (or whatever) a double from your partner to adjust the line somewhat.
3-4: The middle same genders arm once and a half with each other to switch places, while the couples on the ends arm just once (line is now 2, 4, 1, 3).
Chorus 3, Part B
1: End couples (2 & 3) meet a double while couple 4 falls up into the top position, and couple 1 falls down into the bottom position.

Conclusion:
Bears some similarities to the Playford version, but is different in some important respects.
